After everything that’s gone on in X-men, we now get to see what’s become of Cable and the baby or ginge as I’m calling her till she gets a name. (Joan, Jane or some think with J? ) So here he is, the time lost soldier with ginge and in a messed up future,
The art was very nice. I think there as been a kind of a western tone to character of Cable (Eastwood any one?) I thought that the art followed this tone quite well with the opening pages, with Cable painted as a lone gunman. I just hope they can keep this going with a future settings with out going all Star Wars .
As for the story, what happend was not much. The baby didn’t cry in her own time (g3ek: Who’s to say that the normal MU is her time, bhuddwha?) but she does now, oh and cable doesn’t like changing nappies.
What was cool was the brief moments with bishop, now with added abnormal sized metal arm and learning how long has he been chasing Cable for.
I think it would be good to have one of the themes from C&D continue in this book. What is that theme?, Well it’s why does Cable think his way is the right way? I mean what give Cable the right to destroy Bishops time line through his attempt at saving this baby girl, just because he thinks she may save mankind? Does he know for sure, that saving this baby is the right thing to do? Bishop certainly doesn’t.
I would have liked a bit more of a hint to what’s in store for us readers and a little less catch up from X-men MC. An old man and a baby is not really a jumping of the shelf comic for new readers and I think there should have been a bit more following up plot for those of us who know what to expect from such a title. now over to g3ek for his thought on the matter.
G3ek: Nice art I suppose. As a first issue, it really didn’t grab me and say “Hey fanboy, keep reading me, I’m going to take you on a great journey.” After I finished reading this issue I was bit, you know ‘meh’, I mean is it just going to be Lone Wolf and Cub set in space? Are we going to find out why Bishops gone a bit crazy for? Is the baby Jean or maybe Rachel? Is bhuddwha going to punch me in the face? Do I really care about where this storyline is going to go? The answer to the latter is probably not.
